Biography

 

The dutch tenor Arnold Bezuyen started his career right after his studies at the University of Amsterdam at the “Hoofdstad Operette”. 

After his advanced training at the “Operastudio Amsterdam” he continued his career at the Theatre of Augsburg, the Theatre of Bremen as well as at the “Wiener Staatsoper” embodying roles such as Pinkerton, Ismael, Turriddu, Italian Singer, Cassio, Alfred, Tamino, Alwa, Matteo, Erik and Loge. 

 

Furthermore, over the years the roles of “Mime” and “Herodes” proved to be his most frequent embodied roles and therefore make up a very important part of his occupation both professionally and personally.

 

Bezuyen made his first debut with the role of “Mime” in 1998 at the “Bayreuther Festspiele” conducted by James Levine. He continued working there for the following 15 years. 

 

In 2020 Bezuyen will return to the “Bayreuther Festspiele” and perform within his fourth production of the “Ring des Nibelungen” both “Mime” in “Rheingold” and “Siegfried”.

 

Moreover, he continued his career internationally so far in Amsterdam (Italian Singer, Floristan), Liceu Barcelona (Schuijski), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Matteo), Bonn (Loge), Düsseldorf (Loge, Klaus Narr), Frankfurt (Broucek), Hamburg (Stewa), Innsbruck, (Gregor, Alfred), Kassel (Schuijski, Mime), Leipzig (Arindal), Covent Garden London (David), Los Angeles (Loge), at the Milanese Scala (der Buchlige), Metropolitan Opera New York (Loge), to Neapel (Loge), Paris (Faust), Prag (Mime), Reisopera Enschede (Floristan, Max), Stuttgart (Loge, Lied von der Erde), Tokyo (Loge, Mime, Siegfried, Bacchus), Valencia (Schuijski) and Vienna (Erik, Italian Singer, Alwa, Loge, Froh, Tamino).

 

 

His concert occupation includes: 

the song of the earth, 9. Symphonie von Beethoven, Das Klagende Lied, Die Sieben Todsünden, König Kandaules, and Les Noces. 

Adding to that, Klaus Narr (Gurre Lieder) is another well-established part of Arnold Bezuyen which was so far performed in Paris (Salle Pleyel), Monte Carlo, Philharmonie Berlin, Strassbourg, Bilbao, Aalborg und Aarhus.

 

Alongside his opera career Bezuyen enjoys to engage in song recital evenings performing songs by L. von Beethoven, Berg, Schubert, Schumann, Strauss and Wolf. 

 

Furthermore, Arnold Bezuyen has worked with several well-known orchestra directors such as Pierre Boulez, Sir Andres Davis, Christoph Eschenbach, Adam Fischer, Marek Janowski, Julia Jones, Philippe Jordan, Gustav Kuhn, James Levine, Fabio Luisi, Andris Nelsons, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano, Simon Rattle, Christian Thielemann and Jaap van Zweden.

He has also contributed to many CD productions including:
